Museum Immersion Program
The Executive Board has approved hosting an Immersion program in 2018.
What is an Immersion Program? - Immersion programs, in association with a museum, are programs for school aged children to have an in-depth learning experience in a museum. Such a program was conducted at the Lowell Area Historical Museum in Lowell, Michigan. An Article covering this event was published in the Historical Society of Michigan' s Chronicle magazine (Chronicle Spring 2016). Our plans for our version of this program are in the early planning stages. As of now, we have approached the Pentwater Schools third grade teacher, Lucy Macher, about her 2018 class being the participating group. Lucy has responded with enthusiasm. So, our next step is to find a knowledgeable PHS member to serve as a Co-Chair with Lucy Macher. We are also in need of 15 to18 member volunteers to serve as hosts when the students visit next spring (knowledgeable museum docents would be most appreciated). Are you interested? Please read the article on the website and advise your interest in an email to the Society (email@example.com). In preparation become a docent at the museum this year by contacting Amy LaBarge (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Novadoc Artifacts featured on WZZM
On September 2, 2015, Brent Ashcroft (WZZM 13) and Camerawoman, Bridgette Pacholka filmed a video of the Novadoc shipwreck artifacts. The piece aired on November 11, 2015, the 75th anniversary of the sinking of the three ships on Lake Michigan. Pentwater Historical Society was very pleased to have our Novadoc artifacts featured!
